Ground Testing with SW220 and SW240
We originally put together a jetbike for the fun of it and quickly realized how useful this is for ground testing engines. A static test stand will verify good running of an engine but it is not a suitable way to conduct a full thrust extended timeframe test. The reason is heat.
The jetbike provides ample full flow air to the turbine with no restrictions. We are also able to observe the performance of the motor as opposed to watching it in a plane which is many feet away. There is zero risk to an expensive airframe as well making this a very useful means of fully testing an engine.
We have employed this method of test for engines that we feel require some deeper diagnosis than a quick run in a static bench stand. We also use this instrument for bread-boarding new designs for research.
